Physique is the best stat because it increases survival. There's been some discussion recently about how to complete Grim Dawn you need to play a tank. I am not anti-tank, I just think that casters and quickness based builds should probably tank in a different way to melee types. As in they mitigate damage in ways other than encasing themselves in enough steel to recreate the Empire State Building and having a health pool large enough to drown an average sized village. The other stats give you small damage bonuses and that is about it? So to make the other stats useful I thought I could try to add a defense component to them.
My (cunning) plan is to have spirit increase elemental defense in some way and cunning probably increase dodge but that might be too powerful? I don't know, game balance is not my friend - which brings me neatly to the actual point of this post. Recreational mathematics. Maths for fun is a completely foreign concept for me. I can learn how to make a mod from the tutorials and practice but the kind of numbers that would be involved are totally beyond me.
So the basic idea would be for spirit to increase EITHER elemental resistance naturally at a slow pace, freeing up devotion points for other defenses OR have spirit increase the elemental resistance cap which I think is my favourite idea. It would have to be small, maybe 1% per ten points? I just pulled these numbers out my arse and have no idea if it would be useful or a very bad plan. Cunning would then modify dodge or possibly piercing/poison resists and maybe have high physique up the physical resist cap. Would anyone here be able to give me some advice on the kind of numbers I'd be looking at?
Thanks for you time!
make spirit great again
