Kymons Chosen vs Deaths Vigil

So, i usually join the side that benefits my playstyle. But wouldnt it be better to join those that dont? This way i could benefit from the rare drops that fit my character, instead of lots of items that arent helpful at all.

Did anyone try this and is willing to share the experience?
