Good newbie farming builds/Where to farm for gear?

Just wondering if anyone had an pointers to some newbie builds that are good for farming items for other builds. I'm wanting to get a bit of farming in before the expansion is out as (due to time zones and work) I likely won't be playing on release anyway.

Also any tips on where you're actually meant to farm gear would be helpful. Do you just do crucible over and over?
