However, as we all know, HC characters can die pretty easily if not being at least moderately cautious, even on Veteran. Unfortunately I had that happen to me twice now, and both times in SoT. I managed to cruise extremely smoothly through everything untill that, even the likes of Salazar and 2 Hidden Path bosses. The only thing that still gices me chills in this game are retaliation and other sudden one-hit anomalies that I don't yet fully understand about that game, even @ 624 hours in.
My first HC character was a mix between bleeding & retaliation Warder, he died to Alkamos, but only due to huge ammounts of stupidity. First of all I was out of health potions because I sold them all prior to entering SoT (lol), and on top of that I also went to his area too soon (wasn't paying attention to a map). On top of all that I also had plenty chances to quit while on extremely low health cause he still couldn't nuke me like crazy, but I was just reckless and at the end died as a result.
Ok on to the second character, this was my favourite. A lightning & cold 2h Trickster, I absolutely loved this character. Again died as a result of extremely reckless Shadow Strike attempt on at least 2 Skeletal Monstrosity hero monsters, which I strongly believe had retaliation abilities because I just instantly died after that Shadow Strike (even tho I only ever put 1 point in SS also to prevent that to happen). Gotta mention the fact that I had some reflected dmg reduction from Owl constellation, but that didn't seem to make any noticable difference. Perhaps I got hit with something else on top of retaliation.
So now my main question is how to avoid that? How to know exactly which mobs/bosses shouldn't be shadow striked at all (retaliation is by far the most dangerous thing in the entire game imo). I know about those yellow orb having skeletal heros and Zantarin for example, but I don't know exactly for every other mob and boss type. And if I want to ever advance past this damn SoT I have a feeling I'd need to learn those things.
Any more detailed advice on how to manouver through SoT on HC? It's funny cause I had almost 0 problems with a challenge room, also that desecrated shrine wasn't a big issue, same with that reviving skeletal mini boss on top of one area. What happens is I get too confident at one point and after that I just die to something totally unexpected.
Thanks!
How to not get killed by Shadow Strike?
