While expansion is on the way and item changes with it, I think it would be good to remember %piercing. Piercing conversion is found on swords, axes, pistols and 2H swords and ranged. Piercing mainly affects physical and pierce builds, since 100% conversion is not common and pierce does not eat into other types of damage.
For one handed melee, pierce is okay, since if you require more, you can go dual wield, and the only physical leg sword actually has both pierce bonus and proc. 2H have 2 epics without strong pierce focus and Nightshade's Reach which I am not sure on, but 2handed pierce builds I see use green swords.
2 handed ranged is where it starts get weird with pierce that's either too low to use or too high to ignore. The Adversary does get reduced pierce.
And pistols is the bottom point. 4 physical pistols (3rd company's revolver, Burrwitch Peacekeeper, Havoc, Deathdealer's Sidearm) and all of them have %piercing on par with adversary. And it should be lower than that, because with ranged weapons shield is not obvious choice, so DW (and double conversion) is most likely.
I am not the most knowledgeable player, but I do think it's a good topic for discussion. Feel free to correct or add.
