I'm posting here as a last-ditch / we've tried everything without any success post. I've been googling for the past two days, searched through all the forums that I can find.
We are unable to play a LAN game between a desktop and a laptop (2x Steam copies that we bought last week). And the most frustrating thing is that it used to work. Initially, it worked with the PC plugged in via cable, and the laptop on WIFI.
On Sunday we had to move the PC for a day to a place that was out of reach of the router, so we played via direct cable, and that's the last time it worked.
When we moved the PC back and started up Grim Dawn, I got the issue where if you host a multiplayer LAN game, you cannot interact with any NPC, or do any damage to any mobs. And on top of that, no matter what we have tried, we cannot get the two pcs to connect.
And we have tried every combo, plugged both pcs into the router with a cable, tried different routers, even with a direct cable doesn't work.
I can understand that routers can get in the way, but how is it not working with a direct cable connection?
When we try with two laptops it still works fine, but the 2nd laptop does not run the game very well, it's quite laggy.
We also recopied all the files from the laptop onto the pc, did the steam verify game cache, run the repair tool of GD.
Honestly, I feel like we have tried everything, and just to get LAN to work, it's not supposed to be rocket science. At this stage I'm just about ready to throw in the towel and stop playing GD all together.
