Wrong version error, but same versions

I have the GOG version and my friends have the Steam version of Grim Dawn
We have all updated to the latest version (1.0.1.0) but when I attempt to connect to their game (via LAN) it tells me I have a different version of the game.

In the past this has worked (months ago I could connect to my Steam version friend just fine via LAN without any errors) but now it seems to detect as a different version

Note that I have tried both a repair/validate game files, as well as a complete re-download and re-install, none of which worked.
